New Motivation Paying Off

Wow, okay, the new motivation really seemed to work for me this week. I lost 4.8 pounds this week! There is no way I thought I would do that. I knew I had lost, but I hadn't realized how much. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Sandy for agreeing to be my buddy!

Not only did the new motivation pay off in a loss this week, but it also helped me reach a mini-goal I had set for myself. I lost the same amount of weight that my son weighs. That's right......

I Lost 40 lbs!!!!!

I actually reached 40 pounds and got another 5 pound star. That makes 8 in total! I am only 3.5 pounds away from my half-way point.

That amount was TOTALLY unexpected, I didn't think that I could lose that much in a week. And, it's not like I had the GI flu or anything this week. I actually did eat and exercised a little bit. I mostly drank all my water. Maybe it was like re-starting again, I don't know. But, I'll take it.

I was starving after the meeting, so I went to Albertsons. I made a conscious effort to stay away from the sweets and breads, so I got some Terra Chips. They are 4 points a serving, but they were better than the alternative and I had the points to spare. So, I feel empowered that I made a better choice, I didn't opt for donuts or candy bars. Yay me!

So, am I still motivated?

YOU BETCHA!!!!!

Another Post

Well, here I am, blogging again. Just as I promised Sandy I would. How am I doing? Okay. I am tracking everything I am eating and really watching my points. I've been making a conscious decision on how to spend my points, and if I have a few left over, then I make choices how I can spend them without going over.

I wasn't the best eating all my fruits and veggies, dairy or drinking all my water. But, today, I am going to focus on eating better and drinking all my water. I still don't like eating cheese or drinking milk, because those are just so many points. I have been taking calcium supplements, but it would be healthier for me if I worked in a glass of milk or yogurt. I just miss the days when I could have a 1 point yogurt, now they are 3 points. Plus, I get really, really, tired of yogurt sometimes.  I like cold milk, but we only have 2% in the house. My kids need the 2% for their development, and I don't go through enough milk to justify buying skim, plus skim is like drinking white water. I've tried the Skim Delight where they thicken it with seaweed, but I still can taste the difference.

I want my dress back, I felt so pretty in it. I also want to lose weight and stop this stupid 2 step. Is this just another failed attempt at motivation, since it has only been 2 or 3 days? I don't know, but I think maybe I am back on track. Time will tell.

The next few days are going to be crazy. But, I pre-planned and have packed enough healthy food to snack on for 2 days. I even cut up a salad.

Until next time.

2 Weeks

Wow, has it really been 2 weeks since I last blogged. I guess it has. Sigh, that is not the way I wanted to do this blog.  I wanted to blog about the good times and the bad. And, I have no excuse for not blogging, other than I had no motivation. And, I haven't been as true to plan as I should be and I am yo-yoing with weight again. I have been fighting for every pound lost for almost 3 months now, and only have 6 pounds to show for it. It seems like I will lose 2 pounds, but then gain 1.9999 of it back.

I have tried having talks with myself, giving myself some outside motivation and it just didn't seem to work. I would do well for a few days, maybe a week, and then I would fall of track, again. I am so frustrated with myself. Don't get me wrong, I do love the fact that I have lost 36 pounds, but I am not even at my halfway point yet. And, it has been such a struggle to get here. And, I gained 1.2 pounds last week, probably had something to do with the fact that I ate an entire can of frosting in the space of 2-3 days. I didn't eat plain (well, some of it I did), I put it on WW Devil's Food Cookies. But a can of frosting is still a can of frosting.

I remembered I was doing better when I had a buddy to be accountable to. Since I haven't seen Bernie and Thalassa in a long time, I guess they are having problems and I completely understand. I can't tell you how many times I've started and stopped and started again.

I've been reading Sandy's Blog (www.asmidjinatatime.blogspot.com) and it sounded like she was going through the same ordeal that I was. So, yesterday, my husband came home from a double. I told him I needed a few hours of me time and I sent Sandy a text to meet for coffee.

We met for coffee and lamented over the new PointsPlus system. I don't know if it was coincidence of the new program, but that is when I stopped losing weight well. I liked the old system, I was losing weight on it. Yes, the old system didn't take into account carbs and fruit, etc. And the new system does force you to eat better and make healthier choices, but I am finding it difficult to stay within my points. This new system feels like I got a 5% raise but inflation went up 15%.

We chatted about motivation, cheating, tracking, exercising and motivation. We talked about different ideas to motivate ourselves. One thing we came up with was blogging. We agreed to blog at least 3 times a week so that we could track ourselves and use blogging to keep up motivation. We also agreed that we would have to comment on each other's posts so that we knew we were reading each others. (If you read this blog, please let me know by leaving a comment.)

Then we went dress shopping! I need a new dress for a wedding coming up in June. While shopping, we challenged each other to find dresses that we normally wouldn't wear, something outside our comfort zone. I found a couple that I thought, wow, I'd never wear that. (I did stay in age-appropriate attire, I am not trying to dress like I am a teenager). I found a dress that was slinky, sophisticated and a size 16! It fit great! I felt beautiful and sexy in it and it was elegant and could be dressed up or down. I loved it. Sandy found a cute dress that looked adorable on her too. We agreed to hold the dresses as hostage until we met our agreed upon loss. I need to lose 9 more pounds before I can get the dress out of hock. I need to have lost a total of 45 pounds.

I am hoping this double-pronged approach works. My mom said I needed to add an exercise component in. I agree with her, and I think that will be the next challenge, is to agree to exercise a certain amount of time per week. But, let's not overwhelm ourselves. Let's get back on track (and tracking) then add the other components.

It's really funny that I reached out to Sandy when this week's WW motivation is to find a WW buddy to stay motivated with.

So, here's to better tracking, better blogging and better weight loss.

Middle of the Week and Going Strong

So, a few days ago, I finally got upset with myself enough to have a sit down talk with myself. I told myself that I needed to "poop or get off the pot" when it came to taking WW seriously. For 2 months, I had danced around, fiddle-farted and 2 stepped my way through a measly 5 pounds. I was finally sick of it. So, as I was talking to myself and realizing I needed motivation to keep going. A motivation that wasn't something that I could reward myself with or deny myself if I didn't get. I am just not good at denying myself. Well, that much is obvious, that's how I got to be as big as I did.

What motivation, internal or external, could I come up with that would make me finally get my arse back on track. I thunk and I thunk and then I wavered and got off the topic. I was thinking about vacations and holidays and then, wham, it hit me! My sister is coming for a visit Easter weekend. She hasn't seen me since I started WW. She last saw me at pre-WW weight. Could I lose another 5 pounds (or even 10) before she got here? Was that a challenge I was up for? It was. Because, I actually feel motivated again. I am using my mantra "Do I want to eat that or do I want to be skinny?" and it is working!

I am 3 days into my week and I have only used 2 weekly uh-oh points. I have made a concerted effort to eat more fruit and veggies and cook healthy meals at home. And, it's working, despite being so dang crazy busy this week. I am making wise choices, again. I am packing my lunch and water, again.

Has it paid off. I don't know yet. Last weigh in somehow I managed to lose 1.6 pounds but that was only 2 days into the new motivation. I somehow managed to earn another 5 pound star, making my total loss 36 lbs. I am working on losing 4 more pounds before she gets here. If I succeed, then I am taking her and myself out for a pedicure.

How about them apples!

I Hate My Scale

I hate my scale. Not because I hate what it says, well, I do sorta hate it because of that, but I digress. I hate my scale because of how inconsistent it is in weighing. I can step on and off the scale 10 times and get 10 different readings that vary as much as 6 pounds!!!

I went to WW weigh in and meeting on Thursday night. I stepped on the scale and fully expected to gain 2-3 pounds. Imagine my surprise when I only gained 0.4! Even after the Oatmeal Cream Pies and eating almost without abandon for 10 days. Maybe the exercise is actually paying off.

I've been on plan for the past few days. I am able to resist temptation, or at least moderate it when I am tempted, unlike how I was a week ago. I have found that my mood has generally improved, but I am sleeping less. Ah, well, that is one side-effect of the meds.

Weight Loss and Clinical Depression

The weather was bad on Thursday and Kourtney cancelled the meeting. Since Thursday is the only day that I can make the meetings, I didn't get to weigh in this week. But that is okay. I don't really want to see the damage I have done to myself.  I am admitting here and now to eating almost a box of Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pie Cookies (5 points each) over the span of 2 days. That was on top of all the other food I shoved down my gullet. I did my best to track but I so lacked any motivation and frankly felt out of control.

I felt crappy and had no motivation to eat healthy or stay on plan. I was always hungry, but nothing I ate made me feel satisfied, actually it made me feel worse because of the guilt of what I had eaten. But that guilt wasn't enough to stop me from putting more stuff down my gullet.

My last post was about PMS and not feeling like I had any control over what I put into my mouth. Since I last blogged I have had an epiphany. The downward spiral may have started with PMS, but it continued and got worse because I forgot to take my anti-depressants for probably 4 days (maybe 5). You see, I have been depressed my entire life. I was in my mid 20's before I got on anti-depressants.I liken it to living in a gray world. Being on Well-Butrin turned the world into brilliant technicolor.  I did okay off of them while pregnant and breast-feeding, but I've been a happier, more stable individual on them. This past week I got out of my normal routine and simply forgot. When I would remember something would always come up and I would forget again. Plus the kids gave me their colds and I was on cold medicine. I thought the lack of energy was part of the cold and cold medicine. But, I couldn't figure out why I had no motivation and an absolute lack of control. Thus, the epiphany, on Thursday morning I finally remembered to take my meds. And, by Friday, I finally started to feel a little bit better. I was more able to stay on plan. My motivation improving and I was able to control my urges to eat. Saturday and Sunday got even better.

So, here it is Monday night. I've been able to have at least a few daily points left over since Friday. I actually worked out today and felt halfway decent. Tonight, before class, I fixed a healthy dinner for myself. When I got home, I was hungry and I chose 3 point popcorn.

Here's hoping that I can undue the damage of last week (somehow I don't think so, I stepped on my home scale and it wasn't good at all. It looks like a 3-4 pound gain in a week). But, I am feeling better and that is what is important. Here is hoping that I keep up with this positive attitude.

All I know is I don't want to feel that way again, so I will take my meds and keep on keeping on.

PMS

Okay, so self control hasn't been exactly the best these past few days. PMS has hit yet again, and I cannot seem to control the fact that I want to eat and nothing seems to feed that hunger. I have gone way over on points every day, so I do not get my treat on Friday.

On a good note though, I have worked out 3 - THREE - times this week already. Leslie Sansone really does give me a good workout. I actually get out of breath and sweat. The only problem is my arms are really sore because I did some 5 pound weights with aerobics 2 days ago.

I am hoping this PMS crap stops soon, because today is just as bad as it has been. I am constantly hungry and want the worse things and have no control.

Motivation part deux

Motivation has found me. I am not saying that I have been perfect this week. I have definitely gone over my 5 points weekly allowance per day self-imposed rule. But, I have also worked out twice this week and feel somewhat decent.

Leslie Sansone has a great gimmick with her "walking" DVD's. It is basically low-impact aerobics, but it is easy enough for this fat lump of a body to follow and get 7 activity points per 47 minute session. Is it too soon to say, after 3 sessions that I feel an improvement? I feel like I can go further and work harder the more I do it.

Is this transitioning into weight loss, I don't know. I hope so. I ran into a co-worker at a babyshower (I didn't do so hot staying away from the mini-cupcakes) but she said I looked awesome and could really tell I'd been losing weight. It felt nice and motivating. This is also a lady that speaks her mind to a fault, so I know she wasn't blowing smoke.

So, I have 1 more day of working out to meet my goal of 3 times this week. But, I don't get my ho-ho, because I have gone over my self-imposed limit. Maybe next week.

Motivation

Motivation this last week really escaped me. I haven't tracked in 3 days, just sort of gave up, especially since both kids have been sick the past 3 days. I seem to keep up on my motivation when I have a decent night's sleep, which doesn't happen when you have a puking, feverish 2 1/2 y/o.

I weighed in this morning and was very surprised that I lost 0.2 pounds. I am pretty amazed by that, and can't really figure how that happened. I'll take it.

I was able to speak with Kourtney this morning about keeping motivation. She recommended to set a goal and a reward and deny myself the reward until I reach my goal. I was thinking about well, I have to lose 5 pounds to have X reward. I didn't thnki that would really help all that much. I think it will be more motivating for me to reward myself when I have NSVs like working out 3 times a week for 2 weeks, or staying under daily points for 3 days in a row.

So, what to reward myself with and it shouldn't be food. Even though a food reward would be soooooooo motivating. So, I am going to say that even though it is not healthy to reward myself with food, I am going to do it anyway.

My goal - exercise 3 times before next weigh in on Thursday AND don't use more than 5 weekly points in any one day. If I do that, next Friday - I can reward myself with 1 4 point Ho-Ho.

I am going to go exercise.

Anchors A-weigh!

Okay, so the title is a pun. I thought it was clever.

So, the other night in the meeting we talked about anchors. Anchors are those things you use to help you keep on track and on plan, to stay motivated. One lady in the meeting said she used a picture of her father's diabetic, ulcerated foot to keep her motivated because she didn't want to have an amputation. If I weren't a paramedic, I'd probably be like a few people around me that said, "EWWWWW"

Then, I got to thinking. I did have my own anchors, but I hadn't been using them. Here are my anchors.
1. "Do you want to eat that or do you want to be skinny?"
2. My 10% keychain, my Stay-and-Succeed Charm and my 25 pound medallion hanging in my kitchen on a hook.
3. That picture of me I posted a while back, when I was at my absolute heaviest and I looked like the Sta-Puff marshmallow person which is now on my phone.

I wish I could say that they worked all the time, but they help at least part of the time.

So, what are your anchors?

Back on Plan

Wooo Hooo, I lost 3.4 pounds this week!!!!!

I went into todays meeting with this thought, "It's not if but how much weight I lost this week!"

I was so good this week, I stayed on plan, I worked out 2 times like I said I was going to, and I resisted temptations. I used my mantra, my anchors, whatever you want to call them.

Do I want to eat that or do I want to be skinny? Skinny won and I am 2.8 pounds away from my wedding weight. I am 0.4 pounds away from another 5 pound star, so my total lost is 34.6. And I am feeling it.

I was in class the other night and was walking into one of the buildings and I caught a glimpse of myself in the reflection in the glass. I couldn't believe what I saw, COLLARBONES!!!!!! I saw collarbones in the light. I saw my long neck (I will forever have a waddle, genetics suck.) But I actually felt pretty.

We went to the beach today. I didn't really want to go, since I woke up with a nightmare that left me in a REALLY bad mood. But, I went, and I ended up running around with my kids on the beach while John played caveman and started a camp fire. I literally ran! Me, the woman who feels like a huge cow when she runs, ran after her kids today, playing catch and tag and racing.

So, if you couldn't tell by the tone, I am back on plan. I input my weight tonight and lost another daily point, oh, well, just means I am getting closer to my ultimate goal. I feel better (could that be the endorphins from actually working out? I don't know, but I am going to wake up with John tomorrow and work out and see.)

Here's to a successful week and I'll post and let you know how things are going.

PS - Thalassa - can't wait to see you and catch up, welcome back!!
Bernie - you can do it girl!! I promise, 2 more workouts this week
Sandy - we'll do our best not to touch our uh-oh/weekly points, if I do, I promise I'll earn enough activity points in that same day to cover them all.
Kourtney - thanks for being an awesome leader, thanks for the encouragement tonight, it really helped

Superbowl Sunday on Plan

Today was the SuperBowl. I really didn't care who won, I was just hoping to be able to watch it without the kids crying and whining for Mythbusters or Umi Zoomi. I was able to watch the whole thing and it sorta sucked. But, this blog isn't about the game, it's about the game-day food. Did you know that, on Superbowl Sunday, American's consume the second-most calories in one day, with Thanksgiving being the first?

Well, being an American, I wanted to celebrate football, because it is my favorite sport to watch. I could've gone all out, but I didn't. I could've made a vegetable tray, but that didn't seem like the spirit to me. So, I made roasted garlic! It is 1 point per serving, and I ate it with 2 point crackers and 1 point Neufchatel cream cheese. (And since I roasted it with olive oil, I get 1 serving of my healthy oils in!) YUMMY! I also celebrated with 2 Bud Select 55 (1 point for 2!). I ended the day in a draw, not over, not under. If I hadn't been tracking so hard I definitely would have gone over. But, I knew today would be tough, so I really, really watched it.

And, it's not like it has been a particularly easy day either. We are in the middle of breaking the kids of their grazing-snacking eating habits, of chocolate milk sippy in bed at bedtime (Jack) and milk bottle in bed at bedtime (Julie). It has not been easy and we are only day 2 into it. Jack was a pain last night and tonight, Julie was an unholy terror. It is all about consistency and not bending to their begging, pleading, cajoling and somewhat logical arguments. Jack is really stretching what "before bedtime" means. But, if they are to have healthy eating habits, they have to learn that they can't graze throughout the day. We actually ate 3 real meals today with no snacks. I know that you are supposed to eat light snacks, but the kids don't seem to eat the meals if we give them a snack in between. Plus, I was reading on the USDA's sample daycare menus that we have been over-portioning the food we give them. For example, a snack could be 1/2 oz cheese and 1/2 cup fruit. For snack, we've probably doubled or tripled that, no wonder they weren't eating lunch or dinner.

Bedtime was awful, Julie had to be sung to while being rocked (I haven't rocked her in months, because she usually won't sit still long enough) in order for her to finally succumb to the tiredness which was making her a complete terror. Boy, she has attitude! Well, by the time I got Julie down, all I wanted was something full of alcohol (Bacardi 151 anyone?) or super sweet (we have chocolate cake and cupcakes in the house). But, I have, as of this blogging, been able to control myself, so far.

Part of the trouble is yesterday was a worse day than today, and my friend and neighbor Stephanie brought over Bud Light Lime last night. It really helped to talk to her and Dar about things while drinking 2 beers (truly, it was only 2 beers), because those suckers cost me 8 points!! I was way over yesterday, more so than I wanted to be this week, since I am really, really, really trying to stay on-plan and not use my uh-oh points.

So, as I sit here in a quiet house with 2 kids sleeping, I am oh, so tempted, but, I am thinking to myself (which has been my mantra lately)

"DO I WANT TO EAT THAT OR DO I WANT TO BE SKINNY?"

And for tonight, skinny wins.

Good night and sweet dreams.

Another gain

Well, the last 3 days weren't enough to undo the damage of the last 10 days. I gained again, and this time it was big. I gained 1.2 pounds. I know it doesn't seem like much, but considering how hard it is to lose weight and how quickly it comes back on, you can see why I am pretty down.

I don't like this feeling. I don't like being unsuccessful at losing weight. Logically and in my brain I know it is a normal part of weight loss, that I must take the consequences of my unwise choices, etc, etc, etc.....But it still feels really bad when I screw up and set myself back. All that hard work, now I have to re-lose the 2.2 pounds I've gained over the last month. And it just doesn't come off that easily. Emotionally, I am pretty down on myself. I wish I could go back to the first few weeks when I was down because I only lost 0.6 pounds or a pound and kick myself in the butt. I would give anything to have those numbers, instead of the gains I've had the previous two weeks.

You know how looking back on things it seems like it was easier. Well, that is the way weight loss is. When I first started the program it seemed like the weight just fell off. I also had goals to work towards, the second meeting, the first 5 pounds, 5% and 10%, goals and the 16 week Stay and Succeed charm. Now, it doesn't seem like I have an external small goal to work towards. I mean I can still get the 5 pound stickers, and the 50 pound medallion, but those seem so far away.

I am only 1/3 the way through my weight loss journey. I still have almost 60 lbs still to go. It just seems like I am on the huge uphill battle and I am doubting whether if I can keep on keeping on.

So, I can't think about the 60 lbs or the huge hurdles still in front of me. My goal for this week is to measure all my food (I actually bought the over-priced pre-portioned measuring utensils from WW), track faithfully and truthfully and to exercise at least twice this week.

I truly don't know if I would have stayed for the entire meeting, if it hadn't been for my WW buddy and friend Bernie. Thanks for being there and being my support! I also need to be more accountable, so I promised Bernie I would exercise at least 2 times this week, before the next weigh in.

Well, I think I will blog again in the morning, I've got a lot of random weight loss thoughts running through my head, but I am so tired to put them in order.

Maybe I'm back on track

I think I am back on track.

I have been on plan and staying below points for 3 whole days. And, this morning, I actually woke up early (not on purpose, I just couldn't get back to sleep) and decided to work out. I did 2 Leslie Sansone's DVDs. The 4 mile Fast Workout (47 minutes) and Fast Tone (27 minutes).

I stepped on the scale this morning and I don't feel too good about what it says. Even accounting for the 2 pound over-weigh that the scale typically has, it still says I am 2 pounds heavier than last week. I didn't think I ate that badly, and for the last 3 days I have been drinking all my water, so it shouldn't be water weight.

Oh, well, I have another 30 hours or so until the next weigh-in. I don't like it, but if I gain, I gain, if I lose, I'll celebrate in a non-food way.

Lost Motivation

Help! I am looking for my lost motivation. I just can't seem want to track my food, make wise choices and eat healthy. I know the results of going back to the way I used to eat and I don't want that. But, I also want to eat without thinking all the time. How many points is this, how many points is that, if I eat this, I'll feel guilty for eating too many points. There are times, now, when I just want to say "Forget it" I have doubts creeping in that I don't know if I can do this.

I've given away most my fat clothes. Now, I wonder if that was a good idea. I am not sure that I can keep doing this, will I have to go back to New To You and buy back my own clothes?

I look in the mirror and I see someone who has lost 30 lbs, but I have 50 left to go. How can I do this? What will my naked body look like? I already can't stand what my stomach, hips and legs look like. How saggy will I look if I lose more weight?

Today is a new day. I am going to try, again, to get back on plan. I am going to take it an hour, minute or even second at a time.

PMS Again

PMS struck again. This time, it was in the form of evil Albertson's Cookies.  I asked my dear husband to bring them home for the kids and I ended up eating half the bag. This time of the month I just can't seem to eat enough. And I paid for it. I gained 0.4 pounds. Now, that isn't so bad, considering the fact that I couldn't stop feeding the PMS monster.

I am in no mood to blog tonight, I just wanted to post my statistics. I am hoping that the evil PMS monster will leave me alone for a few weeks and I can try to lose more.

For the first time, I am having doubts that I can lose this weight. I am also having doubts that I can stay on WW, because it is so time consuming and such a life change. I am tired of it, but what is the alternative? I gain back every pound I lost AND more? I am forever unhappy (unhappier) in my fat lump of a body? I have to buy new clothes because everything is too tight? I start shopping in the 2X 3X sizes? That is unacceptable to me.

I will work on WW some more, I will get over this rough spot and I will start losing again. I just need to keep on keeping on.

I guess I am in need of a little outside encouragement too....so anything you got would be great.

Busy, busy, busy weekend

Well, it has been such an incredibly busy few days. John and I have been so busy working on the garage re-organization project and visiting with family, that I haven't had a lot of time to be on the computer, much less post to my blog.

Saturday's weigh-in went well, I lost 2.8 pounds. And, correction on my last gain, it was only 0.6, not a full pound.

This week has been so busy, and my mom has been cooking and I have been eating way too much. I only have 12 points left of my weekly points, but.... I also have 32 activity points this week. You apparently get a lot of activity points when you are physically active 8 hours a day, lifting boxes and climbing ladders.

Well, class s about to begin and I will update when the family goes home and I have a few more minutes to sit down and just breath.

Weigh In

Well, today is Thursday and I usually post my weekly loss (or gain as it was last week). I didn't go tonight. Now, don't get all on my case, I didn't skip WW because I was ashamed or anything like that. I actually did pretty well this week.

But this week is Garage Re-Organization project. My parents are in town and I was in the middle of building my mega-storage cabinet which will become my pantry. I couldn't leave in the middle of the construction. I was having too much fun building things and using power tools. Plus, it was a great father-daughter bonding time, since neither one of us could remember the last time we built something together.

My plan is to wake up early Saturday morning and go, along with every other New Year's Resolution person in McMinnville, Dayton, Amity, Sheridan and Willamina. That way, I can get my weigh in and come back and continue garage project and Jack's birthday celebration, since my baby boy will be 4 (jeez, I cannot believe he will be 4, it seems like just yesterday I gave birth to him.)

I would like to note that I had a great NSV (non-scale victory) this week. My skinny jean, size 18 (not 18W) Eddie Bauers kept falling down when I was grocery shopping. I had to get a belt to keep my pants up!!!!! Yay me!!!! The only bad part of this, I don't have any 16's to try in my closet. I haven't been a size 16, since, well, maybe 2001 and before that, heck I don't even remember. Once my other pants get this loose, I think a trip to New To You is in my future for jeans.

Well, it's late, we have a huge amount of stuff to do tomorrow and I am exhausted.

Mid Week Check Up

Okay, I haven't exactly stayed on the WW power foods this week. But, I have been eating more fruits and veggies and choosing wiser options when we have fast food. Like Friday, I had Quizno's for lunch, but I had a Turkey Cuban, no mayo, on wheat (9 points) and a Mondito from Taco Del Mar, that was flour tortilla, chicken, whole pinto beans, no rice, guacamole, salsa and very little cheese, and that was 9 points too. I added fresh fruit to each meal and for snacks.

Yesterday I was at lab and was so busy I didn't get to eat much of anything, but I packed healthy food. When I got home I still had over 20 points left for the day. I ate wisely and ate all my points and even allowed myself to have a cocktail.

Today has not been a good day. I took Julie to Burger King for chicken fries. We shared a 12 piece (she ate 6 pieces to my 5), onion rings and a coke. Yes, it was high in points, yes it was very high in sodium, but I also had a 4 point breakfast, snacked on 2 fruits and have had over my 8 glasses of water today. I also still have 45 of my 49 uh-oh points for the rest of the week.

So, flexible WW allows me to eat where I like to eat. I just choose wiser selections or less of the bad stuff and surround the bad stuff with good stuff.

Also, I am happy to report that all my retention issues have been resolved. I stepped on the scale this morning and I was pleased to see that it was way below where it was Thursday.

Until next time....

A First for Me

Well, I have the dubious distinction of having a first WW experience that I didn't want. I actually gained a pound. I am still -30 total, but I still didn't want to gain. So what happened? Especially since I tracked faithfully and had over 20 uh-oh points left.

2 things I think.

1st - yesterday, on my way home, I at a Big Mac, fries and a coke. It is very high in sodium and since I haven't been drinking all the water I was supposed to today to flush out that sodium. I probably have some water retention issues.

The next part is going to be a little personal, so if you don't want to read about my GI issues, please stop here.

2nd - I haven't gone since Monday. So, I am literally full of s*&t. I am not a stranger to constipation issues. Usually if I wait more than 2 or 3 days I take something for it, usually try prune juice, fiber, etc. If that fails, I take medication which messes my system up. Which is part of the problem I had last week. So this week I am trying to let nature take it's course without screwing up my digestive system and causing anymore cramping or gas. Which was the whole problem starting Sunday night and Monday.

So, I am going to stay on plan this week. Eat more veggies and fruit, drink all my water and see how things "go"

I just gotta persevere and keep on keeping on.
